NFL Players Association has engaged the NFL in “high level discussions” about an 18-game regular season.
NFLPA Executive Director Lloyd Howell said that while the union has “not yet progressed to formal negotiations” with the league, discussions are underway to once again expand the regular season. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in May that any lengthening of the regular season would come at the expense of the preseason. “We would do it in the context of reducing the number of preseason games. We think that’s a good trade,” Goodell said. Though some players have expressed concern about an even longer regular season, it appears the union and the league are moving toward an 18-game season.

Cowboys signed WR CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million contract extension.
Lamb becomes the second-highest-paid receiver in the league on a per-year basis and will receive a $38 million signing bonus — the largest ever for a receiver, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Lamb was one of three receivers sitting out camp hoping for a new deal and becomes the first one signed, leaving Brandon Aiyuk and Ja’Marr Chase still to go. Lamb caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns last season — all career highs — and should flirt with similar totals this season playing in a Cowboys offense that appears short on running back talent. Fantasy managers who were worried about him potentially missing the start of the season can rest easy, as Lamb should have more than enough time to get up to speed before Week 1’s opener against the Browns.

Davante Adams (hamstring) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Steelers.
Jets interim head coach told reporters Adams will play this week. Adams’ instant recovery from the hamstring injury following his trade to the Jets can only be described as a miracle of modern medicine. Aaron Rodgers’ favorite receiver will be good to go for Week 7. His familiarity with the offense and the quarterback put him near the WR1 ranks for his Jets debut.
