TT pozitivno iznenadio noćas. :D
Dva trade up-a za DL Worthy i CB Hayward u drugoj rundi. Woooow.
Stvarno se ide na rekonstrukciju obrane.
Očekujem u 4., 6. i 7. rundi C, QB, još kojeg DL...

Assuming no other trades, tomorrow #Packers will have two 4ths (No. 132 & 133), one 6th (197), and four 7ths (224, 235, 241, 243).

Ove godine imali smo 12 pickova, znači odličnu poziciju za trade up.
Još nam ostaje 7 pickova u subotu.

Packers play it smart: Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson is more likely to trade down to accumulate picks than make a strong move up the board for a player he covets. But he will take a chance if he sees a player worth the price. Grabbing Michigan State's Jerel Worthy, a potential first-round pick, to play inside and outside in the team's three-man front in exchange for a fourth-round pick seemed a prudent move. Thompson then traded up again just 11 spots later in the second round to secure the services of Vanderbilt cornerback Casey Hayward by giving up a fifth-round choice. The two fourth-rounders they received from the league as compensation for lost free agents still allows the team to find depth at other positions while meeting two strong needs with players of good value.

NFC North rivals draft with eye on Packers

Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson filled needs all over his defense in the NFL draft, but the Packers’ NFC North Division rivals also spent the three-day draft filling needs.
As in, they drafted players they need specifically to beat the Packers.
Indeed, it looked like Chicago, Detroit and Minnesota spent the weekend with one eye on their draft boards and one on Green Bay.
You don’t even have to look at the names of the players they drafted to see that, just the positions they play. The NFC North drafts were heavy on players at positions that affect the passing game on offense or on defense.
The Bears’ six-man draft class consisted of a pass-rushing defensive end, two receivers and three defensive backs. Among their eight picks, the Lions chose an offensive left tackle, a wide receiver, a pass-rushing defensive end and three defensive backs. The Vikings had 10 selections and used the first seven on an offensive left tackle, three receivers and three defensive backs.

You can’t blame those teams for taking a narrow draft focus. In going 15-1, including 6-0 in the division, the Packers scored more points last season than any team in NFL history except New England in 2007. The mandate is clear: If you want to beat the Packers, you have to slow them down or be prepared to win a shootout.
All three of the Packers’ rivals made strides in that regard during the draft.
The Bears were very aggressive prior to the draft, finally giving quarterback Jay Cutler a go-to wide receiver when they traded for Brandon Marshall. In free agency, they added halfback Michael Bush, guard Chilo Rachal and even a backup quarterback in Jason Campbell so they can avoid a repeat of last year, when they were 7-3 with Cutler and 1-5 after he got hurt.
In the draft, Chicago got a pass-rushing partner for Julius Peppers when it took Boise State defensive end Shea McClellin on the first round. Most saw McClellin as a linebacker, but not the Bears. They gambled again in the second round, adding another big-play wide receiver in Alshon Jeffery, a major talent who had a troubled season at South Carolina.
For immediate impact, third-round safety Brandon Hardin might surpass both McClellin and Jeffery. Hardin missed the 2011 season with a broken shoulder, but safety has been a Bears weakness for years and safeties who can cover are becoming more important in the pass-happy NFL. Hardin was athletic enough to play cornerback at Oregon State.
After years of struggling, Detroit is the prime candidate to unseat Green Bay after going 10-6 last year. A defensive collapse in the second half of the season made the Lions’ off-season goals apparent. Or so we thought.
Despite a crying need for people who can cover, Detroit used its first-round pick on Iowa left tackle Riley Reiff and its second-rounder on Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles. Adding Reiff for pass protection makes sense because emerging quarterback Matthew Stafford has been injury prone. Broyles was ultra-productive in college, but was a questionable pick after having knee surgery in November. If healthy, he would give the Lions four wide receivers the equal of any in the NFL.
The Broyles pick indicates the Lions hope to beat the Packers in shootouts, though the rest of their draft was devoted to defense. Third-round pick Dwight Bentley of Louisiana-Lafayette must overcome his small-school background and contribute right away because the Lions need a starter at cornerback. If he can’t do it, the Lions will hear about it because they passed on cornerbacks Casey Hayward of Vanderbilt, Trumaine Johnson on Montana and Josh Robinson of Central Florida to select Broyles. All went quickly after that, including two — Hayward to Green Bay, Robinson to Minnesota — within the division.
The Vikings wanted to improve their depth and did so by trading the No. 3 overall pick for the No. 4 pick and getting three extra picks while still landing the player — USC left tackle Matt Kalil — they wanted. That turned into a 10-man class that will start the Vikings on the road to recovery after a 3-13 season.
After finding protection for young quarterback Christian Ponder in the first round, Minnesota addressed its porous secondary with its next two picks. The Vikings traded up into the first round to take Notre Dame’s Harrison Smith, one of only two high-end safeties in the draft. They took Robinson, a cornerback who ran a 4.29 40, in the third round and he should at least be the nickel back this season. Minnesota then took Arkansas wide receivers Jarius Wright and Greg Childs in the fourth round in an effort to make life even easier for Ponder.
The Vikings are a year away from contention, but if the Bears and Lions filled their needs in this draft, the NFC North could emerge as the best division in the NFL because both teams seemingly closed the gap on the Packers.

Johnny Jolly granted release after six months of six-year sentence

A Texas judge has granted former Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly his request for early release, just six months into a six-year prison sentence.

The judge gave Jolly what is known as “shock probation,” which is granted when an offender convinces a judge that he was shocked into turning his life around by spending a short period of time in prison. Jolly will remain on probation for 10 years and will have to serve 200 hours of community service.

Jolly was arrested four times for illegal possession of codeine, and he has said that he battled an addiction to codeine since high school. He and his lawyer have also argued that he is merely an addict who has never hurt anyone other than himself, and that he doesn’t belong in prison with dangerous criminals. The judge evidently agreed.

The 29-year-old Jolly, who started every game for the Packers in the 2008 and 2009 seasons, has been indefinitely suspended from the NFL since 2010.

Report: Driver, Packers reach deal
By Tyler Dunne of the Journal Sentinel

Green Bay -- The Packers return to practice Wednesday. Now it appears their all-time leading receiver will be there, too.
Driver's agent Jordan Woy told TMJ4's Lance Allan that the two sides have agreed to terms and will finalize a deal tomorrow. In addition to this, Driver tweeted, "Tweeps: when I said I will be a Packer for life. It is now true. Packer for life."
Thus, one of the most beloved players in the team's history is likely to return for a 14th season.

Zanimljiv članak....
Quote
On Surface, Keeping Driver Makes No Sense

Donald Driver, with his rags-to-riches story, record-setting production and community-mindedness, agreed to a renegotiated contract that probably will keep him in Green Bay for one more season. It's a great story ... though one that doesn't make much sense in a bottom-line business.

With Donald Driver agreeing to a renegotiated contract on Tuesday night, he presumably will be a member of the Green Bay Packers for a 14th season.
That leads to these questions:

Why?

Aaron Rodgers extention almost done, 5 years 96$ million. He is way under paid,? thoughts?

Ako na tih 96 dodamo oko 30 koji mu sleduju za naredne tri godine dobijamo prosek od oko 15,7 miliona za narednih osam godina. Reklo bi se da jeste under paid ali mnogo manje nego ranije. :D

Former Packer Kampman Wants To Play

Defensive end Aaron Kampman was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, after appearing in just 11 games (eight starts) for the club the past two seasons, and there is speculation the 10-year veteran will retire.
That might eventually be the case, but only if no one offers Kampman, who will turn 33 on Nov. 30, a chance that he finds to his liking.

And that almost certainly means a 4-3 defensive team, perhaps one with a playoff shot, and one that could afford him the opportunity to ring up five to eight sacks at least as a situation rusher.

Kampman would like to play in 2012, and has said that he is healthy enough to contribute. Hampered by knee problems the last several years, Kampman, who signed a four-year, $24 million contract with the Jags in 2010, despite an ACL injury in Green Bay in 2009, had only four sacks during his time in Jacksonville.

When he played outside linebacker for the Packers in 2009, Kampman registered just 3.5 sacks in nine games, his fewest sacks since he had two in his second year in the league.

In the three-year stretch from 2006 through 2008, Kampman notched 37 sacks, including a career best 15.5 in 2006, while lining up at the left end slot. He's had ACL surgery on both knees but feels he's got something left, and is hoping some 4-3 club feels the same way.
