Dolphins are interviewing Rams LB coach Chris Shula for their defensive coordinator vacancy. As one might have guessed, Shula is the grandson of legendary Dolphins head coach Don Shula, who holds the NFL record with 347 career wins. Shula, 37, has spent the last seven seasons with the Rams, serving primarily as a linebackers coach. He served as the pass game coordinator in 2022 and the pass rush coordinator in 2023. While he feels like a long shot to get the job relative to other candidates, Shula’s family ties to the organization make him an interesting candidate. He also received an interview for the Eagles defensive coordinator role last season.
Buccaneers are interviewing Rams pass game specialist Jake Peetz for their offensive coordinator vacancy.Peetz has a direct connection to Baker Mayfield, who spent five games with the Rams in 2022, throwing for 850-4-2 after getting off to an underwhelming start with the Panthers. Peetz, 40, has been around the coaching block, spending time at high-level college programs like Alabama, UCLA, and LSU while also working off-and-on in the NFL since 2012. Peetz’s only season as an offensive coordinator was in 2021 at LSU, which was a tumultuous one for the Tigers, who were still trying to find a quarterback post-Joe Burrow. He was hired by the Rams the following season and has been in his current role for the last two years. His ties to Mayfield could make him a dark horse to land the Bucs’ offensive coordinator vacancy.
