Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring Cameroon international Joel Matip on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to Sky sources.

There are still details to be ironed out regarding the 24-year-old Schalke man before the move becomes official, however

Arsenal have signed midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old, an Egypt international, won three consecutive Swiss league titles at Basel, and has played 28 times this season, scoring six goals.
Sky sources understand the fee for Elneny is around £5m, on a four-and-a-half year contract.

LIVERPOOL TEIXEIRA DEAL ‘UNLIKELY’

Sky sources understand Alex Teixeira is unlikely to join Liverpool in this transfer window after the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the Brazilian.

Shakhtar Donetsk wanted at least £35million for a player they consider to be their last remaining valuable asset.

We understand it is likely Teixeira will leave in the summer, but no deal is in place with Liverpool or any other club.

Earlier this month manager Mircea Lucescu said he would not stand in the way of Teixeira leaving if the offer was right for the club.

Shakhtar have regrets over the £24 million sale of Douglas Costa to Bayern Munich, deeming the value too cheap, and as a result were prepared to be stubborn with the Teixeira negotiations.

They are also mindful of winning back the Ukrainian title from Dynamo Kyiv. The pair are level on points at the top of the table with Teixeira a key part of the team.
