The Seahawks were serious enough about trying to land Peyton Manning that team officials flew to Denver to try to set up a meeting when he visited the Broncos for the first time, according to league sources.
They hoped to accommodate Manning’s schedule and get some time with him since he was already on the road, but he did not deviate from his schedule, and ultimately the Seahawks did not get a meeting with him.
They wanted him to see their facilities and were prepared to make a very serious pitch, but Manning personally whittled down the list to a few teams with whom he would meet personally.
The bold move on the Seahawks’ part showed how serious they were about Manning, but it was in contrast to how other suitors operated, in which they waited for the quarterback or his camp to contact them first to set up the ground rules for meetings and how the process would unfold. Manning handled many of the logistics and conversations personally.
