James Cameron's attempt to become the first man to reach in 50 years these profunidades "to better know and understand this largely unknown area of the planet," says National Geographic.
Cameron, who has already made 72 submarine dives, 12 of which to shoot his movie "Titanic" will be on board a mini-submarine from eight meters long, the Deepsea Challenger, equipped with sophisticated technologies that allow you to withstand high pressures.
The aim of the expedition is to obtain images, filmed by powerful spotlights, and specimens for study in marine biology, astrobiology, marine geology or geophysics.
